Sunday - Post Worlds

Up at 08:30 for coffee and finished up yesterday's blog. With all that was going on it was hard to get it updated... sorry.

Several members of the band headed home early this morning as work commitments and family take precedence. We lazed around and after showers, headed off into town for some lunch. First stop was Waxy O'Connors and the food was great... service was slow as they seem to have their own pace here.

Kelly & Kris in George Square
After lunch we walked up towards the Tenement House Museum http://www.nts.org.uk/Visit/Tenement-House/  to see how life was back in the 1920's in Glasgow. Kris decided he would forego the tenement building and head to the Park Bar just down the street a ways. Kelly and I continued on and found the museum easily. All very interesting as Kelly pointed out the piggy that was used as a hot water bottle back in the day. (We have one on our mantle at home.) The actual flat had four rooms off the entry and was approximately 800 sq ft in size.   It was not as harsh a life for this family as it had some modern amenities given the day.. flush toilet, bath etc.

After our tour we walked over to the Park Bar and discovered that almost every Grade one piper and drummer was there enjoying the music and conversation. The crowd actually spilled out so much that they closed off the road and added a second bar outside. It was packed!

The Hennigan's and Kelly enjoy the sunshine!
The band absolutely rocked the place with some great music.
Jenny & Kelly enjoy the afternoon social activities.
The music was excellent and we all enjoyed it. Dave and Barb Hennigan along with Alan and Jenny Mackay and Kris held up the window spot when we arrived. we were joined by Doug & Shelley and Jill & Drew as well. Turns out the Troy's, Bob Hislop & Dave Martin were out in the mass of people outside.

We all headed off to dinner at the "Chippy Doon The Lane" for..... yes you guessed it, more fish & chips! It was very good and we left stuffed once again. I am growing gills!

A nice walk back to the dorms where we got caught up on our fellow roomies activities. We started to pack our suitcases as we will leave in the morning for the train station and our trip south.

Off to bed.
